A Time for Reflection

The week before Christmas is always a quiet time in business, unless of course you work in retail. This is the perfect time of year to pour a glass of wine and reflect on the year's happenings. By doing so, you will be better prepared to move into the New Year in a purposeful way. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Did I accomplish all that I had set out to do? If not, what could I have done differently to achieve the results I had hoped for? Making one or two small changes can often make a huge difference. Give it a try and see what happens in the year to come.

What did I enjoy doing most this year? Once you know this answer, you can continue to search for opportunities that are similar in nature.

Am I where I thought I would be at this point in my life? It's fine if you are not exactly where you thought you'd be at this stage in your life, but what happens if you are not even close? If you give up now, you'll never get there. But what would happen if you decided to make a sharp left? Or if you went in an entirely different direction? Remain open to all possibilities. Just make sure you are the one controlling the path you are taking.

How will I improve my life and those around me? Complaining about the darn job market or the state of affairs in our country can be tiring to those around you. What will you do differently to achieve different results? How will you contribute to making the world a better place?

Who am I grateful to that I haven't thanked? Has there been a particular person who has given of themselves to make your life better? Have you taken the time to acknowledge them properly?

Take the time to reflect and be thankful for all in your life. It won't be long before January comes along and you are moving at warp speed again.
